The Seafair Torchlight Parade
The Seafair has been held annually since 1949. Its mission, “connecting and celebrating the community spirit of Pugent Sound,” speaks to their incredible events held each year. Though there are an immense amount of activities, the three big events are the hydroplane races, an air show, and the entertaining Seafair Torchlight Parade.
The Seafair Torch Light Parade is a long anticipated part of the Seafair. Preceding the Torch Light Parade is an 8K Torchlight Run. Prizes are awarded for the fastest and most creatively costumed runners. The runners then get a chance to follow the Seafair Torchlight Parade route as the Seafair Torchlight Parade begins. The Seafair Torchlight route starts at Seattle Center and moves south down 4th Avenue to Qwest field.
The parade features Seafair royalty, dance teams, marching bands, and so much more to make your Saturday night full of entertainment. The best way to catch a glimpse of the incredible Seafair Torchlight Parade is to reserve a seat, instead of trying to follow the parade throughout the crowds. Great parade views can be caught from grandstand or bleacher seats.
To really enjoy The Seafair Torchlight Parade and its route, you’ll want to stay near downtown Seattle. It’s ideal because you can avoid the lines for transportation and walk everywhere. One thing is for sure; The Seafair Torchlight Parade brings back the sentiment of a good old fashion celebration in the streets. You can’t miss the parade spectacle of the year.
