Putting my Little House on the Prairie fantasies aside, I’ve always liked the idea of a general store. A not too big, not too small place lined with rough- hewn wooden cabinets chock full of everything from honey to work boots, soaps to candy bars. So i was pretty excited when Nicole, proprietress of the seminal men’s store Blackbird, opened up The Field House, right around the corner. She got the tone just right here: TFH feels a little bit Old Ballard, a little bit Northwest small town, with a lot of things I want to eat, wear or own.
